2020 has been an unprecedented year. A worldwide pandemic forced many Americans into their homes for months and continues to hugely affect how we live and make our living; an egregious act of police brutality was met with massive protests across America (and beyond) and galvanized the anti-racist movement; and a lack of leadership has left many anxious and frightened of the future.
This year’s members’ exhibition takes as its focus work that Philadelphia Center for the Book artists have created, in book form or not, in the context of or in response to these times, the year 2020. That art may be a direct reaction to world events or may be a response in some way to our environment as we have sheltered in place.
