Redbuds Redux
“Redbuds Redux” is a poem, presented in book format, and written in response to the 400,000 deaths from Covid19 in the United States as of January 2021. The small book size (4.5” x 5.5” approx.) creates a more intimate interaction between the reader and the somber event. Imagery is repeated in varying hues of dark to pale grays; this emphasizes the repeating phrases in the poem itself. This unique artist’s book uses pencil drawings, digital printing, antique linen fabric with three-hole hand binding and redbud wood closure.

1. “COVID19: The Three Stages”
“COVID19: The Three Stages” was created during the height of this pandemic before vaccines. Each miniature book (2”x 2.5”) represents the progression, from infection to respiratory distress. Each book is tiny to emphasize the fact that regardless of size the impact of the object (disease) can be powerful. The three, unique artist's books and closure consist of monoprints, drawing, digital printing with an accordion fold format book design with 3-hole binding and overlays.
